Description
The Olden Days Tribute — Barrie
Location: Bayfield Hill (from the base near the bay to west of Highway 400)
Story Context
In the early days of Barrie, clean water was scarce and courage was often brewed in kettles and barrels. Ale was safer than the well, and each sip was a toast to survival. The climb up Bayfield Hill was the spine of a young town—a daily pilgrimage through snow and sweat. Today, the Council calls modern Heroes to walk that path once more—not out of hardship, but remembrance. Merchants, mothers, soldiers, and dreamers have all left footprints of faith upon this rising earth. Walk to honor them, and to kindle gratitude for the comforts of our age.Your Task
- Prepare a warm beverage of your choice (tea, cocoa, or symbolic “brew”).
- Pack a backpack with at least 5 pounds of weight.
- Start at the bottom of Bayfield Hill near the bay and climb to the west side of Highway 400.
- As you ascend, imagine the lives of the early townsfolk—their laughter in the cold, their hopes bundled with each step.
- At the top, take a slow sip and offer thanks to those who came before. Whisper a blessing for those climbing unseen hills today.
